Hit-and-Run Near Lely High School Leaves Girl Injured, Sparks Safety Concerns
NAPLES MANOR, Fla. — A hit-and-run near Lely High School left a young girl injured Thursday afternoon, raising renewed concerns about traffic safety in the area during school dismissal hours.
According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called around 2:28 p.m. to a reported hit-and-run near the intersection of Texas Avenue and Trammel Street, just outside the perimeter of Lely High School but off school grounds. Investigators said the girl suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital as a precaution.
The driver involved in the crash fled the scene before deputies arrived. Authorities have not released a description of the vehicle or driver, and the investigation remains ongoing.
The incident occurred during a busy time of day, when students are leaving campus and nearby streets see increased pedestrian and vehicle traffic. Residents and parents have previously voiced concerns about speeding, distracted driving, and limited visibility in the neighborhood surrounding the school.
