Key Largo, FL — Athletes from across the Sunshine State and beyond are preparing to dive, ride, and run their way through paradise as the City Bikes Key Largo Triathlon returns to John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park from August 15 to 17, 2025.

Set against the vibrant backdrop of Florida’s first undersea park, this annual event invites participants of all levels to compete in sprint and Olympic-distance triathlons, as well as aquabike races, combining intense physical challenge with the natural beauty of the Florida Keys.

• Sprint Triathlon: 0.25-mile swim, 10-mile bike, 3.1-mile run

• Olympic Triathlon: 0.9-mile swim, 24.8-mile bike, 6.2-mile run

• Aquabike options for both distances (swim + bike only)

Organized by City Bikes and sanctioned by USA Triathlon, the three-day event offers a safe, professionally managed experience for both elite athletes and weekend warriors. The park’s protected waters provide ideal swim conditions, while the bike and run routes weave through the scenic coastal landscapes of Key Largo.

The triathlon’s venue—John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park—is famous for its crystal-clear waters, coral reefs, and rich marine life. Participants and spectators alike are encouraged to explore the park’s snorkeling tours, glass-bottom boat rides, and hiking trails during the weekend.

“This is more than just a race—it’s a celebration of fitness, endurance, and the unique ecosystem of the Florida Keys,” said race organizer Maria Valencia. “Where else can you transition from swimming over coral reefs to biking alongside mangroves?”

The public is invited to cheer on athletes throughout the weekend. Parking will be available at designated lots near the park entrance. Local vendors and food trucks will also be on site, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Online registration remains open through August 13 or until slots are filled. All participants must bring a photo ID and proof of USA Triathlon membership (or purchase a one-day license).
