On Sunday, September 21, 2025, a jet ski crash in Caxambas Bay, Marco Island, resulted in the deaths of two Marco Island residents, Stephen R. Mariani, 67, and Rita Mariani, 49. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) reported that the personal watercraft they were on struck a boat lift, ejecting both riders into the water. They were pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation by the FWC.

Marco Island, FL — The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) confirmed that two people died Sunday afternoon in a jet ski accident in Caxambas Bay.
FWC reported that the victims were riding a jet ski when they collided with a docked boat on a boat lift. Both passengers were killed in the crash.
The identities of the victims have not been released. FWC continues to investigate the incident.
